On July 19, 2019, the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam held a ceremony to see off 19 students preparing to come to Japan under JET and KAKEHASHI programs and the Japanese Government Scholarship (MEXT).
The students attended this ceremony were the 3 students getting JET scholarship, the 11 students getting KAKEHASHI scholarship and the 5 ones admitted the Japanese goverment’s scholarship of the year of 2019.
The Japanese side were Mr. Ambassador Umeda Kunio and the Lady; Mr. Ando Toshiki, Director of the Japanese Foundation for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam; Mr. Kobayashi Ryutaro, Deputy Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam (JICA), and the other Japanese guests.
The Vietnamese side were Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thuy Ha, Representative of Ministry of Education and Training; Mrs. Le Hoang An, Representative of Hanoi Department of Education and Training; and many teachers, students from the universities, junior high schools, and high school as well as the students to come to Japan this time.
The Vietnam Association of Japan Alumni ( VAJA ) sent 2 participants to the ceremony that were Mr Hoang Van Nhan, Vice Chairman of VAJA and Mr. Phan Trung Nghia, Vice Chairman cum General secretary.
To open the ceremony, Mr Ambassador Umeda gave a welcome speech to selected 19 outstanding students this time and the wish to them to take advantage of this valuable time to exchange, connect, learn and explore the interesting useful things in Japan. “From now on, I hope that you will achieve many experiences, become such the people who understand Japan well and contribute to the development of relations between the two countries as the former Vietnamese students who used to study abroad in Japan ”.
On behalf of VAJA, Mr. Phan Trung Nghia said thank for the continuing attentions and support of the Japanese Embassy and Funds, as well as for the Mr Ambassador and the Lady who organized and participated the Ceremony to see off the students. He also encourage the students and hope they to turn nostalgia to home and relatives into motivation to promote self-reliance on living and studying in Japan in the coming time. Associating young people from the countries has a great meaning and importance. He wished the students to make more and more friends from Japan and other countries.
In his speech, Mr Toshiki Ando expressed being glad and wishing the students to have a good experience during the time of studying abroad and each of them will be an “Asian Bridge” between Vietnam with Japan and other countries.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh expressed his thanks to the Japanese Government and the Embassy, the Japan Foundation and Mr Ambassador Umeda for their continuous supports and encouragement to young people who are the talents and future generations of the country. Looking forward to the development, solidarity and long-term and strong cooperation are emphasized at the end of the speech.
Representing the students, Tran Gia Nhi from Hai Phong expressed their thanks to all and promised to try to make the best to use the time living in Japan for studying and cultural exchanging. Hopefully those will also be the motivation for the growth of each individual after returning home. Tran Gia Nhi’s confidence in his speeches and presentations may also implied the proof for their promises.
